About WikiRace
WikiRace is a modern take on the classic game of Wikipedia racing: you start on one article and must reach another by clicking only internal links — no search, no Ctrl+F, no going back. The fewer clicks and the less time you take, the higher your score.
Modes
Campaign (200 hand-picked levels)
10 themed worlds, 20 levels each. Complete a level to unlock the next. 3-star rating based on click efficiency.
Daily challenge
Everyone gets the same pair today. Come back for a new one tomorrow. Global daily leaderboard.
Quick race
Random pair at your chosen difficulty — endless replay.
Versus (realtime 1v1)
Create a room, share the code, race side by side. First to the target wins.
Custom
Pick any two Wikipedia articles yourself and race between them.
How scoring works
Score blends a difficulty base + time bonus − click penalty. Faster and shorter = more points.
3 stars in Campaign mode: minimum clicks. 2 stars: within 2× minimum. 1 star: completed at all.
Elo is updated after each non-custom game based on how your score compares to the median at that difficulty.
Rules
- Only internal Wikipedia links are clickable.
- External links, categories, and file pages are disabled.
- Ctrl+F (page search) is blocked.
- No going back — only forward.
- You have to reach the exact target article (redirects count).
FAQ
Do I need an account?▾
No. You can play any mode as a guest. Signing up saves your history, earns achievements, and puts you on the leaderboards.
Does the game work offline?▾
No — you need a network connection to fetch Wikipedia articles. The app's shell installs as a PWA and can be added to your home screen.
Where does the content come from?▾
Articles are fetched live from English Wikipedia. WikiRace reshapes the presentation (blocks search, rewrites links) but the text is theirs, licensed under CC BY-SA.
Can I suggest new levels or pairs?▾
Yes! Email geral@hyperlink.pt with your suggestion.
How did this get made?▾
Built by André Eusébio (Hyperlink) with Next.js, Supabase and a lot of Wikipedia clicks.
