Privacy Policy

Who we are

WikiRace is a Wikipedia racing game operated by André Eusébio (Hyperlink), based in Lisbon, Portugal. For any privacy-related question contact geral@hyperlink.pt.

What data we collect

We keep data collection to a minimum. Specifically:

  • Account data (only if you sign up): email address, a chosen username, and a hashed password — stored by our auth provider Supabase.
  • Game history: each game you play (start article, target article, list of clicks, time, score) is stored in our database tied to your user ID.
  • Guest sessions: when you play without signing up, we still create an anonymous identifier so your progress persists on the device. This identifier is not linked to any personal information.
  • Technical logs: Vercel (our hosting) records standard HTTP access logs with IP address and user agent for up to 30 days for security and debugging.

We do not use advertising cookies, third-party trackers, or analytics SDKs that fingerprint you.

How we use it

  • To keep track of your scores, levels and achievements.
  • To show global and daily leaderboards (username only).
  • To run the multiplayer Versus mode in real time.
  • To prevent abuse and debug errors.

Who we share it with

Your data is stored with Supabase (our database/auth provider, hosted on AWS in the EU) and Vercel (our web host, served from their global edge network). Article content is fetched live from Wikipedia — Wikipedia may log the IP of requests that originate from your browser, but server-side article fetches come from our own servers, not yours.

We do not sell or rent your data. Ever.

Your rights

Under GDPR you can request access, correction or deletion of your data at any time. Email geral@hyperlink.pt and we'll action it within 30 days. You can also delete your account yourself from the profile page.

Cookies & local storage

We use a single cookie to keep you signed in (the Supabase session token). We use localStorage briefly to sync your path during a game. No third-party tracking cookies are set.

Children

WikiRace is not directed at children under 13. The game renders Wikipedia content which can include mature topics — we therefore target audience 13+.

Changes

If we change this policy, the date above will be updated and, if the change is material, we'll flag it when you next sign in.
